A philosophy professor stood before his class, took a large empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with rocks, about 3 cm. in diameter.
He then asked the students if the jar was full, and they said yes.
The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar and shook him gently; The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls.
Once again, the professor asked the students if the jar was full, and they, once again, they said yes.
The professor then picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar, of course the sand filled up any empty space and covered everything.
Once again, the professor asked the students if the jar was full and this time they said yes, without doubt.
Then the professor pulled out from under the desk, 2 cans of beer and poured the entire contents into the jar, effectively filling the sand.
The students laughed.
Now, said the professor as the laughter subsided, I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life
The rocks are the important things - your family, your friends, your health, your children, things that if everything else was lost, your life would still be full .
The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house, your car.
The sand is everything else ... the little things.
If you put into the jar first, the sand, "continued the professor, there is no room for the pebbles or the rocks, and the same goes for your life.
If you spend all your time and your energy on the small things, you have no room for the things that are important to you.
attention to the things that make you happy: Play with your children, bring your partner to the movies, go out with friends.
There will always be time to work, cleaning the house, wash the car.
Take care of the rocks are the first things that really matter.
Set your priorities ... the rest is just sand!
A student raised her hand and inquired what the beer represented.
The professor smiled, I'm glad he asked me ...
ra ... and just to show you that no matter how full your life may be, because c ' is always room for a couple of beers.
